Today, I am thankful for coming off a medicine that was not helping but giving me side effects that were making me very uncomfortable.
Sometimes we have to advocate for ourselves... just because a medicine is suppose to be helpful for an illness or an ailment etc., doesn't always mean it's the right choice for our bodies...
Now that I am off that medicine I am starting to feel better ... and so for the new medicine is working so much better than that other popular one... fingers crossed it will continue to be helpful without side effects that make me feel soooo much worse..
Western medicine has a purpose in healing but it doesn't have to be the be the only aspect to our healing.. some times looking outside the box we can find things that can help and sometimes those things outside the box aren't the only way to heal either..
We have to remember to balance both inside the box (Western Medicine) and outside the box (Eastern or Alternative Medicines)... to figure out what our unique bodies need to heal..
So I am thankful I noticed what was going on and spoke up... because the last 3 weeks were hard with weaning off to get me to at least back to before taking the medicine..
Thankful I am feeling so much better.. and have the ability to work towards a balance that works for my body inside and out....
Today I was thankful for being able to adjust schooling locations for our daughter...
We are helping out our neighbors with their eldest child 4 days a week.. so we thought both working at the kitchen table would be okay... however it wasn't...
They are both in very interactive programs called Magnet.. just in different grades.. so they couldn't be as active as the program requires..
So our daughter has to be in her bedroom working on a her lap desk on her bed which wasn't comfortable for 5 days a week at 4-4.5 hours at a time via zoom etc., so I am thankful for the fact we were able to adjust things to get her a small desk in her room with a chair... she's not thrilled her toy box was moved to the basement to make room but at least now she has a more comfortable area to work.. plus if she needs to, she can sit in various other spots in the room too..
I know that these times are frustrating and not everyone as the same availability to resources ... I wish things were different...which makes me even more thankful for this..

However, if you have not been able to receive access to a nutritionist or dietitian then finding one that specializes in addictions would be beneficial for you in the long run.

Much like other parts of your recovery process, you need to be honest with your nutritionist or dietitian. Today, I am thankful for a taking little time to read a good book just for me.. nothing to do with CNS studying or for my Ayurvedia class... just a book of interest...
I don't take a lot of time for myself. but today I took an hour to read something for fun and enjoyment ...something for myself.
It's was relaxing and helped get me ready for sleep ..even through I read longer than I should have... but it was nice to do that...
Self-care is important.. and it's something I struggle to make sure I do .. hoping it won't be so long for the next self-care time..
