Meal Plan Examples

Example 1:

Breakfast: Greek yogurt with strawberries and oats.

Snack: Baby carrots with homemade hummus

Lunch: Whole-grain sandwich with precooked turkey beast sliced and vegetables (can be pre-made for quick to grab without mayo or mustard- and no lunch meat-- the meat should be grilled or cooked skinless chicken breast sliced for sandwiches or baked turkey beast sliced etc.)

Snack: Homemade Chocolate Protein bar

Dinner: Homemade chicken salad with celery, ranch dressing.

Snack: A piece of fruit or cup of fruit for dessert (orange or kiwi or berries such as a medley of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries).

Example 2:

Breakfast: Omelet with veggies (peppers, baby spinach), and tomatoes.

Snack: Small banana with nut butter (peanut butter low sodium.. but there are others out there)

Lunch: Whole-grain sandwich, with leftover grilled chicken, cheese and fresh vegetables

Snack:
Baby carrots with homemade hummus

Dinner: Meat lasagna. (individual homemade lasagna containers placed in the freezer)

Snack: Mixed, unsalted trail mix of nuts sprinkled on top of frozen yogurt

Example 3:

Breakfast: Oatmeal with raisins, walnuts and cinnamon.

Snack: Small apple with nut butter

Lunch:
Salad with tomatoes, grilled chicken and cheese with Italian dressing.

Snack: Celery with cream cheese

Dinner:
Homemade pizza topped with cheese and vegetables

Snack: Smoothie (usually pre-made sandwich baggies (fruit and/or veggies) in the freezer for quick to grab then all that would be need is almond milk or juice)





Disclaimers-

**Meal Plan Examples- can be modified for taste, allergies, other ailments, medication interference, deficiencies etc...

For those with COPD-- Dairy does NOT cause more mucus but can
cause existing mucus to become thicker so substitute with non-dairy products like almond milk or soy milk products or take steps to keep mucus thin rather than miss out on the calcium, vitamin D, and other nutrients that dairy products can provide. To help thin the mucus- drink lots of water (unless CHF or have other issues that prevent lots of water) and use an airway device (ie Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilation (IPV) device) to help with lessening the existing mucus.
